With the aim of making it easier for people to work with and in nature, Andreas Stihl founded the Swabian family business that still bears his name today in 1926. Since then, STIHL has grown steadily and sustainably. Together with our approximately 17,000 employees around the world today, we have long been a leading global brand for chainsaws and power tools. Having become known as a machine builder, STIHL is today developing more and more into an international mechatronics company that, in addition to its traditional business areas, is also involved with big data, algorithms, and cloud computing. At STIHL, for example, we have established our own digitalisation division, are constantly expanding the development team in all areas, are creating agile team structures, have extensive training and development program, and are initiating partnerships with start-ups.
But we are not only at the forefront with our products and services, we are also constantly breaking new ground in the area of "New Work": for example, at STIHL we offer flexible and mobile working models, from individual flexitime and home office to the option of reducing weekly working hours over several months.
With all the progress in technology and work culture, there is one aspect in particular that we focus on: our responsibility towards society, nature, and our employees. For this reason, STIHL, as a partner of the forestry industry, is committed to various environmental initiatives such as the "One Million Trees for Borneo" project. Our products also reflect the importance we attach to sustainability and social responsibility.
